State v. Joseph Lee Carter

On April 2, 2022, Mr. Carter was arrested with a co-defendant, Angel Marie Carter at Wal-Mart for shoplifting and drug charges. According to the police report, Mr. Carter claimed “his parents” were not his, but his cousins. This was stated after drugs were found in his right front pocket and rear left pocket. Drugs were also located on Ms. Carter.

Mr. Carter was arrested for shoplifting and felony possession of a Schedule II drug (cocaine and methamphetamine).

Despite a positive drug test from GBI, the District Attorney’s Office dismissed both counts on March 16, 2023. The Motion to Enter Nolle Prosequi claims that the shoplifting was dismissed because Ms Carter took responsibility, but the police report shows that each of them were acting in concert with each other to implement the scheme to shoplift from Wal-Mart.

Another criminal released without penalty.
